Another module summary

I’ve just finished the makeup class examination last week. It’s the time for me to prepare my assignment which will be due next Tuesday.

For the makeup part, I got the highest mark among my group. I was really happy about this. Thank you so much for my models, for the one who gave me time for practicing and the one who’s participated at the exam.

2nd module of my make up class

My make up class’s second module already start 3 weeks ago. This time we study the evolution of the make up during different period of time.

The first lesson we study about the gothic period. It’s a dark and mystery period. The make up for that period of time also present the same thing. This is really the first time I use black color for other’s lip. I think this make up can use for Halloween as well.

 

The second class is about the Victoria period. It’s the period of time with really light make up that you barely able to notice.

I got back my last module assignment in this class, just got a pass for the assignment. For the next assignment, we need to choose a certain period of time and do some research for that period not only for the make up, better including some lifestyle, fashion, big events, fashion icon……The teacher told us the 80’s is most common that the student will pick for the topic and we need to do a make up related to the 80’s for our make up examination too. I better start to look for some information for that~!!

 

Brush cleansing

If you want to keep your brushes longer, you really have to spend some times on the how to care of them. For your own brushes, you might be using it daily, repeat and repeat using it. For those make up artist, they might use their kit more frequent and using on different people. No matter the kit you are using on your own or on others. Cleansing the brushes and keep them well hygiene are very important.

For normal cleansing, you don’t have to use those specific cleansers for brushes. You can use some ordinary shampoo for cleansing. After rinse it, it’s better to use some conditioner for the brushes to keep it soft and give it a protection. For drying, keep it at a cool place and let it try naturally.

Sometimes I’ll use the specific brush cleanser, for some quick cleansing and it also have the mild antiseptics effect. I just need to pour out certain amount on a tissue and rub the brushes on top of it for a few times, that’s it! It’s really good for the smaller size brushes but for those bigger one, it’s better to wash it with shampoo for thorough cleansing.

Eyebrow

The eyebrow is one of the important things for your image. There are so many different shapes of eyebrow. For the five basic shapes are curved, angled, soft angled, round and flat. Different shapes give people different impression.

I think most of the lady do spend times and money to keep their eyebrow in a good shape. There are so many equipments that can help you to create the eyebrow shape that you want.

For the ideal eyebrow shape, there is a so call rule. It begins from the side of the nostril to the end of the eyebrow passing beyond the outer corner of the eye. As those beginner make up artist like me, I’ll use a brush to see weather the eyebrow is long enough or not.

Beside the shape, color is another important thing for the eyebrow. The ideal color is match up with your hair color. And remember, the dark color will make people look wickedness. So be careful when you choose your eyebrow color.

Last lesson

This is the last lesson before the revision. It means the exam day is coming shortly. In this lesson, the teacher demonstrates the technique to apply double eyelid tape. The teacher also shows us different type of the tape. Some are already cut in shape; some are just a roll of tape that you have to cut every time you use, some are very fine tape that keep inside and plastic tape and double eyelid glue with the applicator.

The most effective and commonly use is the double eyelid tape. The fine tape is only for some minor problem but really like invisible. The effect of the glue is so artificial.

The key point for applying the tape or glue is you have to apply it before your make up base and foundation. So that you can keep the tape longer in place and hold the effect for a longer time.

This week we have to decide the colors combination for our exam and do it on the next lesson for our teacher’s comment. Any suggestion for the colors (evening make up)? I also need to prepare my assignment, I’m still thinking about the topics, if you have any particular theme for your dream wedding, please drop me a note to give me some idea~^^.

The Cosmopro Asia 2008

The Cosmopro Asia 2008 will celebrate the 13^th Anniversary this year during the 12-14/11/2008 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. This event is for the global networking in the beauty and health industry.

One of my classmate when to this exhibition last year, she find some really good stuff with a really low price. I’m planning my schedule to visit the exhibition, especially want to see some of the shows and get some make up kits or products with a good price.

My leather make up pouch

I finally have some times in the weekend. So I clean up all the brushes before putting them inside this new pouch. I haven’t opened the box again after I bought this home. I took it out from the box; it feels much softer than I felt it @ the shop. I love this texture and the smell of the leather.

I put all the brushes into the pouch one by one. Most of my brushes with brown handles. It looks a bit strange inside the pouch, so I plan to search for some nice brushes with black handle into my collections!!

Beautiful eyelashes

I went to some make up equipments shopping before Monday’s class. I bought a few things that I’m looking for awhile. After I look around, I bought 2 brushes one is the eyeliner brush another is the fan brush. The fan brush is to dust off some extra powder on the face. The texture of the fan brush is so nice and looks fancy compare to other brushes.

I also bought a black leather brush case which is long enough to hold all my brushes. It looks so professional but still don’t have time to put all the brushes inside.

Beside the brushes and cases, there is something that really attracts me. It’s the new collection of the eyelashes that cross over with Viktor & Rolf. The collection is so gorgeous. I saw it on the advertisement a weeks ago but when you saw the really things that actually put in front of you. It’s totally a stunning to me! I really want to buy them ALL, especially the one with the black laces. I still could remove the image inside my mind. I think what I’ll do is go to one of the counter and ask about the price and the availability. If the price is reasonable and within my budget, at least I want one pair in my collections ~ Wish me luck!!

Time limited for skin products

I have some friends really love to buy new skin products and cosmetics. Sometimes they just used it once or just tried it and left it somewhere.

This time will talk about how long you can keep those skin products and cosmetics.

For the lotion/ cream, if you once open it, you can use it within 6 months. For the unopened one, if it doesn’t mention on the box, keep/store at some dry and cool place for around 3-5 years since manufactory date.

For essence and mask, because the ingredients are so vary it’s better to ask the counters for the safe period once open and the right place for storage.

For the perfume, if your store it cool and dry place, you can keep it for 3 years if not open. Once you open, it’s better to use it within 1 year.

For the cosmetics stuff, it’ not only depend on what kinds of products. It’s directly related the cleanliness if instrument that you used. So frequent cleansing of make up kits, actually to help you to keep your cosmetics products stay in a better condition.

For the unopened foundation, it can store for 5 years since manufactory date. Those opened once, use it within 6 months.

For the loose powder, since it’s suppose to be dry, so you can keep it for a long period but make sure the puff or the brushes is cleaned in a regular basis.

The eye make up, especially the mascara, once you opened, it’s better to used it within 3 months. You don’t want to get infected swelling eyes because using the expired mascara.

The eye shadow can keep for ~6months once opened.

Some people always forget when the date that they first open up the things was. It’s nice to get some small labels and write down the open date or the expiry date on the bottle, so that can remind you the safe period for the products.
