설화수Sulwhasoo

swo

My friend from Korea bought some gifts for me. The gifts are mainly some skin care products from the famous Korean brand Sulwhasoo (설화수). She bought me a pack of Overnight Vitalizing Treatment(여윤팩), Hydroaid Cream and a set of Basic kit with 6 items.

The brand is using so many different kinds of herbal ingredient regarded as Korean herbal medicine cosmetics. JaEumDan is a group of five herbal medicine ingredients – Polygonatum Officinale, Nelumbo Nucifera, Paeonia Lacitflora, Rehmannia Glutinosa, and Lilium Tigrinum – carefully selected to treat skin dryness. Active circulation in the skin is considered very important in Korean herbal medicine. This is because the effectiveness of herbal medicine depends on how well it is absorbed and circulated in the skin. With significantly enhanced skin penetration coming from advanced research and fortified cosmetic counseling methods, Sulwhasoo provides improved nutrition and glow to skin.

I still have my own skin products that I’m using right now. So I only start to try the overnight treatment(여윤팩). It’s very simple to use. You only need to apply it on top of your own skin products before you are going to bed. The next morning, you only need to wash with water as the products recommend. I used it for 2 nights, I could feel my skin become softer in the morning. It’s not so expensive also, the tubing is 120ml and it’s cost $50000 in Won. Let me keep using for a longer period of time and see how’s the effect will show.

Skin care workshop

I joined the workshop for the newly launch products “Superbly restorative line” last Sunday. This line having 3 kinds of products, the lotion, dry oil and skin slave. The smell of the whole line are so nice, not so strong and really nature. The skin lotion and dry oil are good for dry skin with some firming effects. The skin oil even can use as body message oil. The skin slave are so useful, have more than 10 different ways to apply, from the skin, nail cuticle, lips and hairs. I tried it on my lips but don’t really like the taste on it, still like the #1 lip balm better.

They also offered a hand message section and temporarily tattoo section (Morocco style). The hand message section’s a bit short but very comfortable. The tattoo section is just for fun, I did a start like pattern at my calf. You can choose the paint for 1 day or 1 week. I suppose to choose the paint for 1 week, but it’s already faded out when I took a bath @ home~glad that I took the photos for it!!

The precious skin care products

Bulgari’s a brand famous for his fine jewelry, perfume and resorts. They just launch their new skin products about a month ago at the Bulgari’s resort at Bali. The skin care products contain mainly four types of gemstones : malachite, sapphire, citrine and tourmaline. These gemstones are naturally rich in skin-essential minerals and elements like copper, zinc, magnesium, iron and silion. The Crème Precieuse and Emulsion de Lumiere contain a polypeptide complex (collagen boosting) and hydroporine (a potent hydrating molecule) for smooth, supple skin. These products promise to help improve hydration (with zinc), regulate the production of melanin (with magnesium) and fight free radicals (antioxidant effects of silicon, copper and iron). But for meanwhile little research has been done to attest to the ability of these minerals to actually penetrate the skin’s surface.

The skin product is composed of three distinct lines:

1.           The Precieuse Line

A)     The Wrinkle Filler $700/5mL

B)   Intensive Regenerating Mask $1000/50mL

2.         Lumiere Line

C) Emulsion de Lumiere /Splendid Radiance Revitalizing Cream Day & Night $1250/50mL

D) Splendid Radiance Revitalizing Concentrate $1550/30mL

3.         The cleansing Line

E) Radiance Eye Makeup Remover $410/125mL

The entire skin product is now available in Lane Crowford, for enquiries: 852-2505-8580

Nice weather but problem skin><

The weather is getting nice, sunny and breeze in the morning time. Even in the day times it’s not so hot compare to a few weeks ago. Due to the weather change the humidity is getting lower, only around 65% each day. You might feel your skin’s getting dry lately. Since my skin is so sensitive, I felt it like a month ago.

My skin will look not enough hydration and start having lots of acne for the whole month. When I see this sign, I’ll start change my skin products and not allow this condition getting worse, cause it’ll take me more than months to recover. I’m glad that I take the action early enough this year, the condition is under control now. I still have some marks but I only need to do some hydration mask for a period of time to get rid them.

So if you find your skin’s having troubles during the weather change, you should consider changing your skin products. I’m using some AHA products for cleansing and moisturizing. I’ll keep using it for awhile then will start using some hydration products for the whole winter time~!!

Eye care Part II

We mention some ways to keep our eyes healthy yesterday.

Here are some points of not to do, they are also important for protecting your eyes, so check them out!

1.             Don’t rub your eyes!
I know this is very hard to comply; I myself am always tempted when it gets itchy due to my allergy. But just remember that rubbing your eyes can cause wrinkles as the skin around them is very delicate. Wrinkles! Scary stuff women don’t want to have, so NO RUBBING starts from today! (As a side note, rubbing could also damage your cornea if there are dusts or substances on it.)
Just blink your eyes when it feels uncomfortable. Every time you blink your eye, a tiny bit of tear fluid comes out of your upper eyelid. It helps wash away germs, dust, or other particles that don’t belong in your eye.

2. Don’t cover your eyes with your hair
Otherwise you won’t be able to see things! It would also affect your eye sight as you are constantly not seeing things clearly (through the “hair curtain”); your eyes would send wrong messages to your brain that the eyes have problems. And eventually, you might end up with glasses covering the beautiful eyes.

3. Don’t read under strong lighting or with light shining directly into your eyes.

4. Don’t read in moving vehicles
It’s always shaky on vehicles and your eyes need extra concentration to focus and cause eye strain, which will dry your eyes and make them tired.

Remember not to do any of the above.

Eye care

We see things through our eyes: pretty, ugly, happy, sad, clean, dirty…etc. Without eyes, our lives would be colorless, so it makes sense for us to take good care of them. There are a few things that we can so it daily to keep your eye healthy:

1. Blink often
Blinking is a good massage and exercise to the eyes.

2. Vitamin A for brighter eyes!
Vitamin A is very important for night vision. Vitamin A deficiency can lead to further eye disorders with symptoms such as dryness of the conjunctiva, swollen lids and ulcers that can form on the cornea.
So keep a balanced diet, including food that are rich in Vitamin A, e.g. water melon, tomato, papaya, carrot, colored vegetables.

3. 8 glasses of water a day, gets the puffiness away!
When you are dehydrated, the body will start storing up water and that’s when the puffiness appears. So stay hydrated to prevent that. Plus, water can flush out the waste inside your body and thus avoid puffiness in the eyes. But avoid taking water too much water before sleep.

4. Massage your eyes with Palming

Massage:
To help blood circulation around the eye area, use your fourth finger to tap around the eyes for 3 minutes every morning. This can reduce puffiness and dark circle in the long run. You will find this is so nice and reduce your eye fatigue

5. Rest your eyes
Take 5-10 minutes rest after using the computer for 30-40 minutes.

6. Sufficient sleep

Take adequate rest. It will refresh the eyes and help them work more efficiently. The best remedy is all about resting after all. Try your best to have 8 hours sleep every night. I know it’s not easy, but try to keep it and you really can see the result.

Keep on working!

After sun care

It’s been very hot lately. Most of my friends go to hit the beach or pool to cool down a bit. And many of them get sun burn after the sun exposure. Most of them will ask me what to do after they got burn. Because they really want to get rid of the redness, pain, swelling, and even blister. Peeling usually follows several days later. The pain of sunburn is usually greatest between 6 and 48 hours after exposure.

If you don’t want to get burn, here are some tips:

  • Try to avoid the sun between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. when its rays are strongest
  • Use a sunscreen with SPF of 15 or greater at all times. Use a waterproof product if swimming or exercising and reapply according to directions.
  • Beware of cloudy days, you can still burn then
  • Don’t use sunlamps, reflectors, or tanning beds. They produce high levels of ultraviolet radiation!
  • Be informed about any medications you are taking and their side effects. Many types of medications react badly to sun exposure.

If you are already got the sun burn, here something that you can do:

  • First you must stop the burn
    • Use cool wet compresses for first 48 hours. Not to use ice.
    • Cool oatmeal baths may be helpful
    • NO lotions or petroleum jelly in the first 48 hours!! These hold in the heat!
    • You MAY use Aloe Vera Gels in the first 48 hours
    • Apply moisturizing lotions after 48 hours
    • Aspirin taken as directed on the label may help ease pain
  • Seek medical attention if fever, fluid-filled blisters, dizziness or visual disturbances are present

No more oil

No people want a greasy look on their faces. We always use so many different ways to prevent our face to look oily. Those oil blotting papers are so commonly use. I know some of my friends are depend on it and couldn’t go out without a pack inside their pockets. Is it the only way that can prevent our face to look greasy?

Definitely not, some people’s sebaceous glands are more active apart from teenage time. For this type of skin, usually describe as oily/combination skin should be using some skin products and cosmetics that’s having oil control effect. It really helps your skin look less oily for a certain period of time. You might need to use the oil blotting paper after a few hours.

I asked my dermatologist before about using the oil blotting paper. She didn’t make definite comments about this but just remind me one point as I mention earlier. If you remove too much oil on your skin, it will have a compensate effect that will secret more oil from your glands. With more oil secretion, it might have a chance that will block your skin and leading to acne. So it’s okay when you using it like one or two times daily or just using some tissue paper to wipe on the oily area.

Beside the skin products you use, it will be much better if you eat less greasy/deep fry food in your diet. Some people might think it should not have any relationship with the diet you take but if you try, you’ll see the difference after a certain time.

The type I'm using

Things that keep away from your face~

Do you have this experience before like me? I like to try out so many new things especially those new face creams, essence and eye cream. Since I am having sensitive skin, I always need to throw it away if my skin couldn’t bare it. It’s such a waste for those expensive things, right? One of my beautician told me that I should throw the stuff away. What I can do is using them for neck cream/essence if your neck skin is less sensitive or can use as body cream for your whole body except the face area. For the eye cream, you can use it on your lips, or finger tips for those rich eye creams.

Time limited for skin products

I have some friends really love to buy new skin products and cosmetics. Sometimes they just used it once or just tried it and left it somewhere.

This time will talk about how long you can keep those skin products and cosmetics.

For the lotion/ cream, if you once open it, you can use it within 6 months. For the unopened one, if it doesn’t mention on the box, keep/store at some dry and cool place for around 3-5 years since manufactory date.

For essence and mask, because the ingredients are so vary it’s better to ask the counters for the safe period once open and the right place for storage.

For the perfume, if your store it cool and dry place, you can keep it for 3 years if not open. Once you open, it’s better to use it within 1 year.

For the cosmetics stuff, it’ not only depend on what kinds of products. It’s directly related the cleanliness if instrument that you used. So frequent cleansing of make up kits, actually to help you to keep your cosmetics products stay in a better condition.

For the unopened foundation, it can store for 5 years since manufactory date. Those opened once, use it within 6 months.

For the loose powder, since it’s suppose to be dry, so you can keep it for a long period but make sure the puff or the brushes is cleaned in a regular basis.

The eye make up, especially the mascara, once you opened, it’s better to used it within 3 months. You don’t want to get infected swelling eyes because using the expired mascara.

The eye shadow can keep for ~6months once opened.

Some people always forget when the date that they first open up the things was. It’s nice to get some small labels and write down the open date or the expiry date on the bottle, so that can remind you the safe period for the products.
